August 23rd, 1879: The SS Ravenscrag docks at Honolulu. On board were hundreds of emigrating workers from Madeira, including several cabinet makers, and a number of musical instruments such as the machete and machete de rajão. I've not been involved in #RPGaDAY2024, but I noticed the prompt for yesterday: "Day 24 - Acclaimed advice."Steffan O'Sullivan's Fudge RPG immediately came to mind, with the simple suggestion from the back cover: Just Fudge It. So much ink has been spilled defining elaborate rules and suggestions for these games, but honestly if people stopped worrying about it all so much and just made quick, simple decisions to let play proceed then I think we'd all be much happier. #RPG #FudgeRPG

A very unusual sound for this single, as Cliff is accompanied by Milton Charles on the organ. Charles was a popular organist for silent movie showings, shifting over to radio when the talkies came along. He continued to give monthly concerts until weeks before he died at the age of 94. Obviously I've only added the ukulele chords, as I'm hardly qualified to handling someone else's organ.The E chord on this one is unusual: May Singhi Breen used 4447 fingering; unfortunately, I can't find a diagram on Chordette for that, so I've had to use the one for 9877, which sounds pretty close, and put a note at the end of the sheet.https://youtu.be/lTwDAxMMa5M#Music #Ukulele #CliffEdwards #UkuleleIke

166 Plastic Man comics downloaded and popped onto my old iPad Mini, which is as ridiculous a way to spend the day as I can imagine. All free and above board from the Digital Comic Museum. I already had a quite a few issues on the shelf in collected reprints, but this is terrifically convenient (and vastly cheaper). @Oiselarius @mpg @bookstodon I'm afraid I've no experience of it on a Mac, but generally you can go to your Amazon account on a browser and find your Kindle titles under devices and content, then choose the download option for each book. This may not work if you don't have a physical Kindle ereader registered.

For years I'd see the latest TV and movie advances and be impressed by the improvement in pictures quality. Lately I've seen some super ultra really HD film clips (I forget the technical term, it all flows into one after a while) and been astonished at how poor they look.The extreme sharpness and clarity of the picture made everything look exactly as it really was, that is to say a group of people on a film set. The sense of the movie being a real thing collapsed.Presumably people brought up on these newer formats don't notice it, but those making the films can't be satisfied can they?

Waiting in a hospital car park, as I occasionally do these days. They've mounted solar panels over the spaces, providing shade as well as generating electricity. There needs to be more of this.
