Be on the lookout for relatively new, small instances posting requests to boost callouts to block users or entire instances stating they’re problematic for whatever reason if there is little or no proof. We really don’t need that here, too. After one such callout was debunked, the entire instance of the user asking for the boost vanished.

Just saw someone who said in their profile they CW everything BUT politics because “trans lives are at risk.”Yes, I’m aware. I am one of those lives. I’m also put at added risk by the shitty decisions of the CDC. Every day the news about these things elsewhere assault me like a one-two punch to my psyche. Every time I get a new device I gotta scramble to turn off the built-in news feed.You don’t know I’m going through. You don’t get to decide what I “have to see” (because I block people with that attitude). The constant assault of bad news about relevant issues on Birdsite, as I mentioned on another post, left me suicidal because everywhere I turned, there it was—all thanks to people thinking they were helping with that “you’ve got to see this” attitude.Just put some fucking CWs on your posts, please. Let others choose if they want to look at it. People who don’t care about content warnings can and will turn them off.

There are people pointing to .lol shutting down as proof you can’t trust Mastodon but there are many reasons an instance might sunset besides… that. At least fair warning was given. There have been worse situations in the past. I have furry friends who refuse to come here due to a certain instance that had the plug pulled overnight, and nothing I can say about the admin will change their minds.Tip your server admin folks.
