@The_Whore_of_Blahbylon it's really how everyone talks. If you say "scoff" there is an expellation of air at the end which the Japanese would actually spell out with 'u'. Hence (tōf) is spelled "tofu". Americans pronounce it as two syllables when it is actually only one. Source: wife is Japanese
