I'm transitioning from a long career in tech into filmmaking, and I'm shooting my first short film on Wednesday. To give an idea of where the project is now, I've storyboarded, blocked and rehearsed on location with the actors and DOP, made a detailed shooting schedule with contingency added, arranged for meals and snacks, watched a tonne of films for inspo, and annotated my script for the day.Still, I firmly believe there is no such thing as to much preparation! I really want this film, and the experience itself for everyone involved, to stand out in a positive way.Thanks in advance for any tips! ð

@EarlDGray @MattMerk Thank you both for this advice! We have a shot list (technically prioritised, as we need to get it all in one day, but I've made concessions to simplify based on recce with DOP) and a shooting schedule with contingency added. I'll keep reviewing them until the day to make sure I'm not forgetting or overcomplicating anything.

@EarlDGray @MattMerk Yes, very good point. Very similar to when I was a wedding photographer about a decade ago. When the day gets crazy, it's easy to skim past the details that you took so long to plan, but that's how you miss important stuff!

Big day today in my career pivot, as it was my first day on set as a Producer/Director! I could not be happier with how the day went. Some things went to plan, some didn't. We fell behind schedule, and then earned the time back by the end. Everyone put their heart into reaching the goal. I can't wait to start editing something we can all be proud of. Mind blown. I just learned that when someone becomes bilingual from birth (for example in English and French) experiencing semantic satiation for "house" also causes the effect for "maison." If, though, they become bilingual later in life that doesn't happen. ðĪŊ#SemanticSatiation #Language #Psychology
