The entelechy is the realized essence of an object according to its nature, that is to say it implied within that is a hexis which constrains the chaotic dunamis to an ordered enargeia as its 'physic', or phusis, the Greek word for nature. This in contemporary terms would be like a fundamentality a la Lewis' Natural Law.

Regardless of theological background however it still reduces to the Aristotelian concept of the Prima Materia. But actually this goes back to Empodocles a la the interaction between nous and chaos, such that order is brought about.
