@ivesen@miniwa.moe I wonder how Opera 12.x would compare with a similar number of tabs (will probably test it myself on the 4GB ram laptop I have)

Opera 12.x refused to work with either Pleroma or Misskey in my preliminary tests so that rules it out for me. Sad really, the resource utilization was quite good.

@ivesen@miniwa.moe Or WebKit-based, although that's not as common anymore due to Blink/Chromium (in the form of CEF and QtWebEngine) taking away the majority of the frontend browsers that previously used WebKit in the past.

@calvin@cronk.stenoweb.net Yeah, iirc I encountered the same thing with Otter Browser when I was testing Haiku. syuilo is a good guy, but he's a 'modern web' developer and it really shows.

@ivesen@miniwa.moe @Skoll3@pleroma.site I'll have to do a comprehensive lookup later, but at least WebPositive (on Haiku) tracks recent WebKit and not Blink.

@ivesen@miniwa.moe @Skoll3@pleroma.site All right it seems that OmniWeb (OS X), Midori (Linux), and iCab (Mac OS) also track it, Wikipedia says Otter Browser does too but it says that it uses WebKit *and* Blink so I'm a bit hesitant to list it under just using WebKit.

@princessgentoo@ieji.de Love is more a state of mind then either of those things, you only really achieve it when you do.

@wowaname@anime.website It's certainly a better predicament to be in then having too many ideas but not enough understanding.

@ky0ko@cybre.space 4GB is even worse, pretty much unusable for anything web based these days especially under Windows.

@kaniini@pleroma.site Probably going to be like a slightly less pernicious Sun/Oracle at the end of the day, people will find a way to adapt and move to different systems like they always do. Ironically, Oracle could actually be well poised to take advantage of selling their RHEL fork to other clouds in case Red Hat proper pulls out.

@Elizafox@mst3k.interlinked.me Even the one person I know who engaged in level technical critiques of systemd (the uselessd main developer) ended up leaving the internet because of there being too many superficial flame wars in tech and not enough interest in prior art or really trying to architect solutions to specific problems

@lain@pleroma.soykaf.com On a more serious note though, Misskey frontend and Pleroma backend would be like my dream software. I'm sure syuilo wouldn't mind too, past having to learn a bit of elixir or whatever

Decided to take the Misskey acct out of retirement as a sort of "Alice unchained" type of deal. Follows or replies do not imply endorsement ofc but for now (almost) anything goes
