Ok, fediverse, I am going insane because of these system crashes I've been experiencing lately for apparently no reason.I think it might be a kernel panic, not sure, but it is my only explanation. My suspicion is on certain kernels or even packages such as mesa or amd firmware. But again, I don't know. The system (Fedora 40, latest available kernel on the repos) can get completely locked up randomly. I am not able to reproduce the issue since it is literally random and does not seem to matter what I am doing at that moment.- It won't respond to ping (nor, obviously, ssh)- It won't respond to any keyboard input and in fact the keyboard flat out stops working.- Nothing appears in journalctl, at least that I have seen.- I have done memory tests and they come out clean.- My RAM usage and general temps are fine and low.If some proffesional sysadmin or knowledgable person, creature, whatever luckly reads this, I would extremely appreciate any reply or tips on how to debug this mess. Because I am losing my mind trying to figure out what can it be.I am willing to provide logs and any other info needed. If there is anything I shall censor from them, tell me.Thanks in advance. A boost is appreciated.(EDIT: Very tiny typo)#fedora40 #fedora #linux #linuxhelp #sysadmin #systemadministration #techhelp #techhelpneeded

@feld@bikeshed.party @nielsk@mastodon.social I am also suspecting the PSU. At the same time tho... These crashes can happen when doing almost anything (altho I never had them while gaming, not sure if it was luck or whatever).I had them happen while having a bunch of stuff open but not intensive, and maybe a VM or two... And I also had it happen while literally completely in idle

@foone@digipres.club I have a tiny function in my .zshrc for fucking up videos. It uses an external dependency tho, but aside from that, it uses ffmpeg.Without the external dependency, it's just normal compression stuff. With the dependency, it adds some datamoshing (i-frame deletion). If you want, I can reply to this toot with the function.Basically for the ffmpeg part it puts the audio bitrate to 20kbps, resizes the video to a small resolution and to 10fps, then resizes back to a viewable resolution.
