this was about the closed play test for a game coming out that I figured I'd try since my buddy was interested. Went through all the effort of getting the game installed only to get a "This game doesn't support Wine, Proton, or Steam Deck" error so now not only do I dislike the game I am actively rooting for the company's downfall.

@vriska @vaartis @shibao Fish don't have souls and spontaneously generate in the ocean according to the Cathars so morally it's probably fine

@ocean especially since the game looks like it would be play pretty well on deck but well, it is from ex-riot devs so I guess I'm not surprised

@newt I've installed Tumbleweed plenty of times on both real hardware and KVM's with no issue, sounds more like a Virtualbox issue to me

@lain God I had to double check that that was an accurate version of the re-animated intro because I forgot how awful it looks. Marge's dead face and lack of expression, the detail-less background, the stiff animation, slicing the scene in half to include a side-character that barely shows up, all signs of America's greatest cultural export going down the tubes

@lain Because she's essentially not, she's a background detail. She has the same level of animation detail as the bag they put Maggie in: just look at how her neck swivel goes from a whole body motion showing concern for her baby to a single neck rotation. It's lower quality than an animated GIF from 2003.The whole intro is basically just an excuse to go "hey remember this character?" or "hah callback to something 20 years ago" and everything is cut down to make room for all the references

@vaartis Yeah it sound like this has been a coordinated effort for a bit now.Which makes sense, I know a lot of people (myself included) have wanted the pebble back and Google's barely using their Fitbit stuff anymore. They lose very little by open sourcing the OS.I'm intrigued to see how this will work with Rebble as it sounds like they're still sepearte from the RePebble thing? But I may be misreading

@Tsuki @BitBun If you're using beets (and Picard probably has it too) you can specify a language to default too if that helps

@ocean @anemone Counterpoint, my old job was filled with people who had been using *nix systems for 20-40 years and I suspect they will die using said systems. I got a M1 Macbook at my current job at first and it was an incredibly painful experience to use. Battery life was pretty good though I'll give it that.Unrelated, reading that persons posts did psychic damage to me

@oshy Unfortunately I think it's more likely that the venn diagram of "people who drink a lot" and "people who are depressed" tends to intersect a lot.IPA's are a super easy way to disguise any mess-ups in the brewing process, since you can just keep hopping them until you can't taste it anymore. A related effect/situation can be seen in South America or East Asia; most of those beers are pilsners because they A) learned from Czech missionaries who love their pilsners enough to setup breweries wherever they go and B) Pilsners are generally easy to make. Outside of europe most places don't have a beer-drinking culture so breweries don't have institutional experience to fall back on. Thus, they use recipes that either cover up mistakes or are easy to make.

my hot foss take of the day is MinIO going source only is fine, projects are not obligated to provide binaries. That should be done by your distro or on-board/local package management
