@mjdigspigs @monsignor_dickface just wanted to say congratulations to both of you. it does get easier and you're pushing through the hardest part. keep yourself distracted and busy, don't be afraid to involve friends/family in your attempt because they can help to hold you accountable and keep you occupied with other things. if the ritual is what you're missing most of all, replace the ritual with something less harmful, and soon it will become the new norm. you deserve to live a life where you're not being controlled by a substance.

@mjdigspigs about ten years ago, I signed on with a personal trainer on my doctor's advice. (and really need to go back to the gym now i'm retired) One thing I did on the trainer's advice was to eliminate beer. It was just a bad habit, and I was drinking a 6pack every day or two. And yeah, I missed it at first, I'd wistfully pause at the beer shelf in the grocery store. One benefit of it was that I lost about 10 or 15 pounds without changing anything else about my diet. Looking back, it seems like it was easy, but I know it wasn't.

@mjdigspigs @JollyR @matty I steered clear of drink for 25 years until last year. I have a beer maybe once every two weeks now. I never had a problem with it as such but it's not at all a harmless vice, as if any vice were harmless. I do need to drop the nicotine, it's got no value whatever beyond sating the craving for nicotine.
