I kinda hate reverse engineering android apps. not only are they HUGE and 99% of them is ad networks I don't care about, but I do it so rarely that every time I do it I've forgotten what tools I used for it last time

oh my god I think they wrote a unity plugin to let them do firmware updates from inside the game

yeah this is an android app but it doesn't look like they wrote any code to parse the bluetooth LE communication, they instead just have a module to connect it to unity, and they've implemented the hardware driver inside unity. ewwww

@sharkfie the game has custom bluetooth hardware, so they distribute the firmware inside the game

@sharkfie or at least the updater. wouldn't surprise me if the game just grabs firmware off s3

@foone I see, maybe it's just good UX. . I dread having to do mobile reversing again, I imagine they only became more annoying about letting you intercept traffic. (either the devs or OS)

@foone How come you're reverse engineering Android apps? I've been reading about data mining Android apps as I work on one

@brethudson I've got some special hardware I want to turn into a keyboard, and it only talks to an android app (or an ios app)

@foone how do you reverse engineer unity Android games? Looking at gravedefensehd, where authors disappeared and game won't run on never OSs
