I've been using it like teto, and what I'd recommend is taking the base image and installing Plasma, the Flathub backend, and any other packages you need seperately. Besides the initial installation of the things you need and screwing around with Pipewire a little bit, it works pretty well.

@Goalkeeper 1. do not use it if you dont expect shit to not work2. if you do, use my script https://github.com/igeljaeger/devuan-fresh-setup/blob/main/devuan-fresh-setup.sh3. if you dont, talk to some AI about it like I did4. if shit dont work period, use kubuntu or fedora. Thats all.God bless.

@Goalkeeper devuan devs on their forum talked about how the first user experience is shit but they really do not have a standard solution for shit like pipewire yet. Youll just sit there without audio

I mean, I guess they could write a clause into their EULA that technically makes it illegal to run it on a non-Windows OS but like, even if they started taking people to court over this, the only one making a profit would be the lawyers. They should honestly be grateful that Valve put in all the work to make Steam games run on Linux so people like you actually have an incentive to buy a copy instead of pirating it.

@Verfassungsschmutz this may sound weird but halo games were some of the first games to work the best on linux even for online matches and easy anti cheat

Probably helps that they're old AF (even the MCC is 7 years old now)

@Verfassungsschmutz when it comes to linux gaming, microsoft has never been a big obstacle on steam. But well, on xbox or whatever they call it, microsoft store stuff doesnt work.

Honestly gotta give them credit for this one even without the Linux part. I never played Halo back in the day (mainly because I didn't have an Xbox), but I finally did buy the MCC last year and I was not disappointed. Finished every game and had a great time doing it. Possibly the best product they've ever made.

@Verfassungsschmutz now imagine playing these games in the 2000s with school friends like I did. Literally had sleepovers finishing halo 3 in coop.... it was really cool

Yeah, I bet. I mean, even with the enhanced graphics of the MCC, those games are starting to show their age a bit, but they are definitely still very well-made games that absolutely pushed the limits of early 2000s game design
