It's always been a thing in some prot circles. Many churches in England and the Nordics are very nice, clean, white, radiant.But if you go to Finland and see the same style churches, you'll see that they're covered in paintings, frescoes, scenes from the bible, saints, etc.The 'no images' bit was completed in the earlier prot locations, and was only half-completed over with the finns until they decided "nah, the paintings are kinda neat tbh"

@verita84 Are they really praying to the statue, or is the statue merely a symbol to focus their attention? Like, you could pray on a bus ride, but maybe people consider it more of a ritual to have a dedicated place to do it, and a cross or Jesus statue is part of that context. :pepe_piccolo: To be an idol, if I steal their Jesus cross they'd react as if I had stole Jesus himself. It's not just that they are symbols to glorify God, that is the purpose of beautiful churches and statues, to glorify God. Glorifying God isn't a sin, kinda the opposite. A statue isn't an idol, Christians don't pray to a statue, and don't think that statues have power. You're a sperg and an idiot if you think statues or paintings of saints are idols.
