Did I ever tell you guys the story about Joe? When I was seven or eight, probably a year after my parents got divorced my mom had a boyfriend Joe. Joe was ok but he used to threaten to beat me with a belt, which he only actually did a couple times. Well it turned out that Joe was wanted in some other state for a statutory rape charge. It finally caught up with him and one day in this little small town where I grew up the chief of police tracked him down and put him in the jail under the town hall. He was in there for about a day or two before he decided to hang himself with his shirt, which he did. I used to walk by that place all the time on the way back from the pool. You could kneel down and look through the little window and see all the cells and I always wondered which cell he was in when he hung himself. Yeah, well anyways it‘s not really a great story.

I always envied kids that had both parents. My dad split when I was 6 and a half. Luckily, my mom's future boyfriends weren't kid diddlers. Most just didn't want my brother and I around but they had to put up with us if they wanted to date with my mom.
