I remember when the Dr. Pepper cans looked like that before they changed in the 90s

I never got to try the old school cans. I prefer it over bottles (plastic and glass) and fountain

The ones I had from those style cans tastes wildly different from the ones made now. I almost wish I could find one unopened and see if I'm right in it tasting different.

It probably does. The packaging affects flavor, as well as how much the sugar breaks down from the acid and what types of sugar it started with. Watched a video a while back of some dude trying to reverse engineer the coke formula and just small changes in the sugar type/content drastically affected the taste, more so than some ingredients.

I've noticed that just from drinking the same soda from the can, plastic and glass bottles. I don't drink coca cola often but I found I prefer it chilled from the can than I do from the plastic bottle even though it's the same exact product.

Yeah, I think its partially a tactile thing. The sound of a can cracking open hits the tism just right. Like the sound of pumping a shotgun. S tier sound effects.
