@pinemarten the transport ships and escorts will have to pass a strait in between Queshm island (larger than Okinawa) and Iran, which is 5 miles wide and it's widest part, less than a mile wide at it's narrowest. Iran isn't going to hurt from the lack of oil exports, but they would no longer have a reason to keep any of the straits open for anyone.
