Real work pays considerably less. I blew the last few decades building and running UNIX/linux game and web servers; the past 18 years mainly on AWS - which is all supposed to be really great experience. But I used all in-house automation tools I mainly made over time to work directly with the dev teams I had to deal with. Blah bla... in short, I fell behind, not using the hip new nifty doodads companies expect to have namedropped. Google's gemini pointed this out, which was kind of obvious, but it pointed out that I should emphasise my docker experience as that apparently counts toward the automation thing they want for some reason. I am pretty burnt out and honestly putting my forklift cert to use just feels more worthy.
