Britain is investing $2.5 billion in nuclear power to protect itself from future energy price shocks. https://www.gbnews.com/science/nuclear-fusion-britain-...Not fission which exists and actually works, but fusion which doesn't. Except on an inconveniently abrupt or stellar scale.

They're finally backpedalling now the numbers are turning against them. Since they're so incompetent and corrupt though they'll declare 2050 as the date and get absolutely nothing done. We can't even get basic infrastructure projects off the ground in Britain because we have foreigners in our government who are bringing their third world corruption here. This is something that really irks me as a northerner by the way. The south always has government money diverted to it and we always get fucked over in infrastructure projects that would genuinely help the region.

@lethn @Aether By 2050 the ony infrastructure left in Britain would be leftover Roman roads.

@Aether Practical fusion energy would require a breakthrough in physics (something the standard model doesn't currently include). I don't think engineering ingenuity can be the sole solution to achieving practical fusion energy
