       Trump isn't the only person who thinks that lying is perfectly acceptable to get what you want. Lots of people think that way. To those people, the literal definition of "Truth" is nothing more than simply: What People Believe. For those people who cannot distinguish fantasy from reality, it makes perfect sense that Belief is the only thing that matters, and that Facts don't matter *at all*.That's why they will gleefully fight, kill and die to promote and defend their beliefs, because from their point of view, their beliefs *ARE* reality. That's why those people find it so easy to deny the power and the value of science. Because science is all about testable, objective facts, and the threat of that whole idea deconstructs their entire basis of reality. If you threaten the entire foundation of someone's entire worldview, they're going to get very upset and will even get comfortably violent to make that threat shut up and stop.
