       I'm looking for a Discord alternative due to the upcoming change to make it teen-only by default. Of course I know of Matrix, but I've heard that there are still some server-side issues, such as keys getting lost. Is this outdated information, and would it be worth setting up for friends and family as an alternative to Discord for gaming? Depending on your use case, and which apps and homeserver software/ service you're using.Progress has been made towards full Matrix 2.0 spec finalization and deployment across the ecosystem, which has addressed some of the common grizzles, most of the time.As @hywan says, suck it and see : )

       @hywan @strypey Thanks :) for my server, I'm using a simple docker compose setup with Caddy and HAProxy as reverse proxies running on the host.

       @lukasrotermund I think @hywan is asking what flavour of Matrix server you set up. The answer to your question about whether you need to set up a TURN server separately will depend on exactly which software you've used, and what they include in their deployment instructions.
