       @PNS She could have made twice the music. Died at 32. Jeez. Karen Carpenter died on February 4, 1983, at the age of 32, from heart failure caused by complications from anorexia nervosa.  Her death was attributed to emetine cardiotoxicity, a condition resulting from long-term use of ipecac syrup, a drug she used to induce vomiting in an attempt to maintain an extremely low weight.
