@Fash-E @DC5FAN Interesting thing about the real Pocahontas. The basic plot of the movie was a sort of intentional policy of her tribe. They would kidnap a guy, pretend to plan to kill him, only for one of their women to conveniently interrupt and beg for mercy. The guy would be let go, but now he owes his life to one of their women.

That guy is based off John Ratcliffe, who they made a villain, when in reality he was a guy who just wanted to trade with the Indians, and who they murdered for no reason. He probably has one of the worst deaths I've ever read (only beaten out by that Japanese guy who fell into a nuclear reactor).It's a good example of the kind of crap Hollywood could get away with before everyone had easy access to information.

Ah, a 1972 film, absolutely fits in with the Zeitgeist, including after the (((New Left))) abandoned the working class because they were in favor of aggressively prosecuting the Vietnam War. Also only watched a tiny bit of this one, the dueling banjo bit.Geeze, James Dickey who wrote the screenplay based on a novel he wrote, evidently also not a Jew, of course wanted Sam Peckinpah to direct it.
