@Willow self-titled albums are generally either a) a debut album or b) indicators of a significant shift in the band or possibly a reunion. but it's Alter Bridge. they've been making the exact same strain of mid buttrock for almost 30 years uninterrupted.

@rowb1t @Willow thinking about how like 75% are self titled so people just call them by their colorsalso the black album wasnt really a significant change in metallicas style, load/reload was tho

@Mondobizarrro @Willow uh what? the black album was a massive change from AJFA. basically no thrash, tons of mid-tempo """groove""", Hetfield shifting away from his thrashy yell toward more of a grungy warble. load/reload are better known for being extremely ass, but the black album is the demarcation of when Metallica sold out to most older fans.

@rowb1t @Willow which makes sense as to why my dad hates it so much despite having nothing else matters and enter sandman in his playlists.

@rowb1t @Willow its just when i listened to it i didnt really see much stylistic progression or departure from aj4a. at the same time if i didnt grow up constantly surrounded by thrash im p sure id hate it as a genre bc most of it sucks and aged like milk
