       @LostInCalifornia @FeartnTired I feel like when the Met Gala broke into mainstream awareness and the avant garde absurdity got popular, the fashion industry kind of lost it trying to chase that high. Every carpet has to be a "moment." Every celebrity needs to top their last insane look, whether it's appropriate for the event or not.

       @jmakesart @FeartnTired I don't mind the "imitating Cher in the 1980's" Gaga-esque silliness. Showing up in a meat suit or a 6 foot Aztec headdress has always been part of rock and rock (remember Little Richard?).But... fashion is only a tack-on for the Hollywood shows. In NYC, fundraising for the Met is a chance for the silly elites to show off to other silly elites.
