I have a difficult question for my fellow Christians. After Satan tempted Adam and Eve to sin, God spoke to Satan:“And I will put enmityBetween you and the woman,And between your seed and her seed;He shall bruise you on the head,And you shall bruise him on the heel.” (Genesis 3:15)The woman’s seed is Jesus, who is a physical descendant of Eve through Mary. I had always taken Satan’s seed to be people who rejected God, but if Jesus fulfilled literally and physically the prophecy of Eve’s seed. Is the seed of Satan a literal and physical descendant of Satan? Could this refer to the Antichrist and could it indicate that the Antichrist is a nephilim?I don’t know the answer, but I do take God’s Word seriously, even when that is uncomfortable and contrary to what I believe or what I want to believe.#grownostr #biblestr #christianity #Bible

I’m not a fan of reading biblical texts in a strictly literal (or biological) sense. Could it be that, in this case, the “enmity” points to the reality that every human soul, while living in the fallen world, carries both the capacity for good and the inclination toward evil?

The problem is that it is illogical to take half of the prophecy as literal and physical while making the parallel half allegorical. We know the first half is literal.

that's also illogical because our experience as physical beings includes the intangible. that is not contradictory.

Yes, our experience can be spiritual or intangible, but God is not the author of confusion. When His word is written, it is logical and a literal and physical thing is not a parallel to a spiritual and intangible thing. When reading/writing something, it makes more sense that both pieces are meant in the same manner. If you can make it mean whatever you want, then it doesn't mean anything at all.

interpreting it is not necessarily the same as "making it mean whatever you want". i'm sure you've read or watched more than a few mystery stories. curiosity is not a sin. central to false religions is always prohibiting curiosity.you haven't read half of the peripheral texts associated with the same cultures and movements and even libraries from which the bible is composed. your interpretation is colored by your adherence to doctrines that you don't question.
