I may regret this at some point, but I felt the need to put down in writing how I feel about this moment in the tech industry. It is not kind. You may well be insulted by it. If you are... then you really should question yourself.https://www.garfieldtech.com/blog/selfish-ai#AI #LLM #Programming

@Crell thank you for writing this down. The question that remains is: what to do?If you had thousands of like-minded followers, what would you do with them?

@wdeborger I'm not even sure there. "Write non-AI code" is too simple. It's not like Free Software where just building tools for a decade with copyleft licenses would work. (And even then, that got corrupted into Open Source as soon as it was economically advantageous.)

@Crell @wdeborger I think the reason Free Software made sense as a movement is that via copyleft, they could exclude proprietary software companies from using their work.So any kind of "let's build a better infosphere without AI" movement will need to prevent AI from being trained on the information it produces.Unfortunately, it seems copyright is not an effective tool at this moment, as AFAIK even the likes of Disney can't get a useful verdict in court. So, what other options are there?

@wolf480pl @wdeborger That is indeed the billion dollar question...
