       @Flux when i want to exit vi i simply hit ctrl-alt-F2. if i need to exit vi again i simply hit ctrl-alt-F3, and so on

       @jk With all this control and function keys, are you sure it wasn't an emacs that hurt you?Everybody knows that <ESC>:q!<RETURN> quits vi.

       @Flux when i want to exit vi i simply hit ctrl-C. if it doesnt exit right away, i hit ctrl-C again until it does
