It's cute to see Bret Weinstein talk about how guns that don't have manual safeties aren't safe.I agree with him tbf even though I know it's a controversial take

@Cosmic It's the claim that having a round in the chamber is dangerous that is the most misplaced idea.The concept of the draw under pressure is to pull and shoot under duress. Charging the slide is never trained or taught.The Israeli draw introduces an area of failure.All guns have safeties. The P320 is a failed firearm. As I am sure you know.

@MSP_SMIMSA Yes this is why I say manual safety and not just safety.There are enough NDs from holster issues that I think thumb safeties or grip safeties are a reasonable idea.I agree that carrying without round in chamber is a bad idea since if you've already been shot you may not have the grip strength to chamber a round

@Cosmic @MSP_SMIMSA You may not have the time either way.I like my external safety but understand people might not want one.I wouldn’t trust a 320 even with one at this point though.

@Murray_N @Cosmic Almost all current pistols have no external safety.No revolvers do.Most cops get DAO pistols or heavy trigger strikers.Single action semi autos should an external safety.

@MSP_SMIMSA @Cosmic The 320 is the military pistol (M17/M18) and LE agencies all over the country adopted it.Many are busy unadopting it currently.There are plenty of striker guns with safeties. A lot can be purchased with or without. A lot of people remove them.I have carry a Shield with one and have a P365 with one.I just ordered an M&P 2.0 with one for my new competition gun….though my boss thought I was nuts for getting a safety on a comp gun……

@MSP_SMIMSA @Cosmic But yeah….a 1911 or 2011 gun without a safety….or two…..would be madness.

@Murray_N @Cosmic @Killer_Mule I am also left handed.Safeties are often a liability for me.Most striker fire pistol safeties seem like an afterthought. The one 1911 I own has an ambi safety.My 22 pistols have ambi safeties.Glocks are what they are.
