The fact that it seems nothing is going to happen is actually quite a big deal for America's status as a moral authority around the world. It used to be that when there was a high profile crime, like Bernie Madoff's swindle, or Enron, there was a consensus that *somebody* had to go to prison. And there used to be a lot of talk about whether the person being blamed was really the one who did it, or if they're a scapegoat or fall-guy, and the real criminals got away...But the fact that someone would have to be publicly punished was taken for granted - because (it was considered) if there's no punishment then there's no law. This started to change during the 2008 global financial crisis. Nobody (in the US) went to jail for that - though it was kind of argued that it was nobody's fault and it just "happened". This argument didn't really hold water, and Occupy Wall Street emerged as a result. Now we have this, and the DOJ and the president have gone on record saying there's nothing, so at the very least they have perjured themselves and made themselves accomplices to the crime. And there's good enough reason to imagine nothing comes from this at all, nothing came from the GFC or COVID. But the effect of that is America becomes less and less of a moral authority - and that for example: America wants Iran, Russia wants Ukraine, China wants Taiwan. There are no heroes in this story, just power and desire. For everyone else, this means the winning move is to do whatever you can get away with, and if you are caught - that's just a matter of bad luck. No different than the bad luck if you're robbed by someone else who has no morals. It's impossible to overstate how damaging that situation is. When this becomes the rule then everyone in military or government soon begins siphoning off whatever resources they can, and soon the entire state becomes paralyzed by thievery. The leaky bucket that made California unable to build a simple high speed rail system becomes universal to everything. The quote in the picture is relative to an event in 416 BC when Athens demanded that the small island of Melos submit to becoming an Athenian territory. Despite just a few thousand population, Melos insisted on maintaining neutrality vis à vis Athens and Sparta who were at war. To Athens's demand, they responded by appealing to international law and norms, to which Athens replied with the infamous quote. Melos was destroyed, all men executed, women and children enslaved. But only 1 year later, Athens would embark on an expedition to Sicily, and here they were not so successful. They went to Sicily in search of gold to plunder so they could plug the hole in the budget left by the war with Sparta. It took only two years before Athens suffered a crushing defeat in 413. They never recovered from this, and their empire finally totally collapsed 9 years later. In all, it was 12 years from the time of the quote, until Spartan soldiers were marching through the city of Athens.12 years ago the Deepwater Horizon oil spill was finally plugged, and rioting in Ferguson, Missouri kicked off the start of what became BLM.12 years is all that stands between loss of moral authority and total imperial collapse.

You mentioned the 2008 financial collapse. TARP was the most unpopular bill ever. Congress has never received more calls, letters and e-mails. It was voted down the firs time and then ~40 votes flipped overnight. I bet every single one of those people had someone call them up and said, "hey, you want your <insert Epstein-like sexual blackmail videos> leaked?" I bet they were all under some kind of blackmail. When it come to Ferguson, that was not at all organic. Documentaries like What Killed Michael Brown, The Trayvon Martin Hoax, Uncle Tom, and The Real Timeline (George Floyd) all showed the extreme media manipulation used to bait America into a false race war. It has CIA fingerprints all over it. There have been CIA documents since the Charles Manson era showing they've wanted to keep America distracted using race wars. What's happening right now isn't unprecedented. People can't afford to buy homes ... or RAM .. but they can still buy food and make rent. So things will continue. The most extreme of the left-right horse shoe will converge with idiots who will get speech and gun rights shredded against their own interests. It's s sad state of affairs, but things don't change because of injustice or a corrupt system. Most people (myself included I'll admit) just want to keep our heads down. Like the quote from 1970s movie Network: "Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone." ... most people just want to be left alone. Most people don't get into fights unless they have to.

       > but things don't change because of injustice or a corrupt systemNot directly, but indirectly. Because people stop thinking about right and wrong, the reason not to commit crime is so you won't get caught. And you can't do anything at scale if everyone steals everything they think they can get away with.Stuff like building the power grid, the highway system, or the telephone network is just ... forget it, that's a bygone era. The best you can hope for is to be able to maintain it, but even that gets more and more expensive as the stealing increases. People hire their friends and co-ethnics who are incompetent but who will back their interests, then you have a mix of thievery and incompetence together. Then imagine this bureaucracy of incompetent and self-interested buffoons is tasked with determining how hard it would be to invade Iran - they're going to say it's easy because that's what their superiors want to hear. And that's where things actually change, when the state is smashed against a foreign enemy that is able to consume them. US Navy loses control over international trade routes, dollar collapses as it becomes apparent that the treasury is not going to pay back the debt as they no longer have a military to rob anyone else. Then civil war.

@cjd@pkteerium.xyz We’re short of money. It’s an incredibly dumb move to complexify and specialise everything in a society where lack of wealth/ production then leads to total dependency. Sticking to low tech would have helped; the field indicates all of this has been planned. Loss of control is meant to be overcome via AI systems. Poor countries substitute loss of trust by religion, spirituality, philosophy, ritualism and tradition; which works to a certain extent. What we see in the West is total destruction of inter-dependent networks; our social tissue / fabric / network has been destroyed by design with nothing (nor religion, nor tradition) to replace it. The winning move never existed, it was a psyop. Thank you very much, I will read the full exchange between the two of you.
