Interesting. If you're buying silver & gold to take physical delivery, don't buy coins or bars, buy ore from a mine because when you sell it, you're going to get hit with a discount anyway, but if it's ore you're buying then you get the discount too.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zsKPEAI5Nk

@cjd Gold and silver ore is mostly not gold or silver and the amount of metal varies wildly.

Yeah, with gold you could probably buy dust from a shaker table and have a pretty good idea of the purity, but silver not so easy.Anyway I have a feeling that a solar installation is a better investment than metal under your bed.

Gold, that's easy. Density and fire assay, you can learn both from YT. Maybe aqua regia if you want to refine it yourself. Micro-scale prospectors be happy to take your fiat.Silver, though, don't do that...
