@RichardKuklinskisIcyGlare $15k in 2026 dollars would have been around $8k just before covid.

@LordOfTheKangs The philipinos also make stainless steel versions of it. This started as a cottage industry when the surplus jeeps rusted out in the wet climate.

@NitroDubs @NitroPiston We i found out the engine and drive train are sold separately so this would cost closer to $30,000 all in.

@LordOfTheKangs @NitroDubs But for that you would have a brand new flat fender jeep.

@LordOfTheKangs @NitroPiston @NitroDubs Would it be possible to fit with some Japanese diesel engine, such as the Nisan D21? Those are used in all kinds of machines and pickups.

@EvolLove @NitroPiston @NitroDubs You can do whatever you want. It doesn't come with an engine or driveshaft

@LordOfTheKangs @NitroDubs @NitroPiston I meant if ti would fit.I don't think that engine is particularly big or small. But I don't know the size of those old jeep engines.

@EvolLove @NitroDubs @NitroPiston You need to ask an aftermarket engine manufacturer. You then need to ask a mechanic in your area. You aren't going to get an 80 year old engine assembly off the shelf.

@LordOfTheKangs @EvolLove @NitroPiston The thing about engine swaps isn't so much a problem of size, it's a problem of things like mounts, oil pans, and accessories. I have no idea what the inside of a flat fender jeep looks like or how a Nissan diesel looks, so that's something that will need first hand measuring.

@NitroDubs @LordOfTheKangs @NitroPiston The engine room for a Nisan King Cab is basically just one big empty room.Unless there is a turbo there is plenty of leftover space.I recon someone know what engines to use. Since the old jeep engines probably aren't in abundance.I suppose some engine would be easier to fit than others. So it is a breakdown of compatibility, engine abundance and engine cost. Some engine will be cheap, common and easy to install in a jeep. I bet someone knows.

@NitroDubs @LordOfTheKangs @NitroPiston NIssan D21 has an insane oil pan.Actually the most difficult when doing an engine swap in a King cab is that oil pan.Once in place it is good but to get it there is insane.Unless the transmission is removed and then installed after the engine.

@EvolLove @NitroDubs @LordOfTheKangs I have a '73 CJ5. Small V8s fit fine. The engine bay is not the issue at all, the length of the transmission is. The original 3-speeds with transfer case were very short, and adapters are widely available. I updated mine to a 4 speed Tremec from stock '84 CJ5 that fit. Crawl under one sometime. The drive shaft is about a foot long.
