I don't understand how Freiren's anime is so famous and idolised since in the end it's nothing more than a standard fantasy manga. I admit that I only read the manga until last year but even though I liked it I don't see how it can generate all this noise on the internet.It’s again the same thing with Berserk in 2016 yeah it’s a good manga but all the Tsunami of discussion about it was weird.

@Dowito remember, people are dumb and follow the herd...modern anime are in general pretty lame and lacking - also many times totally oversexualized (and that coming from a smut artist :charlene: )i felt the same with this circus thingy, i watched one episode and asked myself "what the heck did i just watch, and why the fuck is this shit so popular?"i guess people theese days are extremely easy to please... :akkoshrug:

@Dowito That can only be a good thing lol.Anyway, my point was trying to be, that most people are highly susceptible to what ever is being pushed at them. In my bubble I see it the most strongly with news. It doesn't matter what the news is, when something "big" happens it dominates the minds of the people around me for days. It is like, for a time, they lose their individuality, and dance to the tune of a greater power.I think it is similar for those anime you mentioned, or for the horse game. For a time people lose the agency, and adopt a role placed on them from above, like a spell being cast upon them.

There's plenty of discussion surrounding The Rings of Power, whatever that Game of Thrones spinoff was, and whatever wacky isekai is being hounded again, mostly involving something as offputing as a Disney live action film. Whatever's going on in Baldur's Gate or Critical Role, or really anything Dungeons & Dragons is honestly just too queer and maybe too much for most people. Something like Frieren (or maybe Dungeon Meshi) is mostly just played straight in a way that resonates with more than enough people to meme about for years, maybe since that goblin slaying guy showed up.

@Dowito Searching for the actual good stuff within local shops has sucked for over the past decade, unfortunately. The genuinely great works, fantasy or otherwise, barely get distributed well outside of the Internets, which is a shame.
