For those of you that follow Gold and Silver - where do you see them going? Today was another wild day:

@Andre You are the prognosticator in chief - where do you this situation going in the next months and years?

@Bryan Gold goes past $10k in the next 12-18 months and Silver goes past $500. How far past? Those numbers are reasonably conservative, I think.Inflation adjusted or M2 adjusted gets there easily.Monetary reset with PMs/commodities backing the $ takes it farther.

@Andre @Bryan 500 for silver? that seems too high to me. it has gone up 240% in the last 12 months. to get to 500 would be a 430% increase. We'll see what happens, but color me skeptical. If it does, every single thing my wife owns that is silver, is history.

@Andre @Bryan How did you possibly get gun shot residue on your bottom 20?

@Phil @Bryan That is a long and embarrassing story and I am frankly not happy that you brought it up.Let's leave my smoked butt behind as a topic and concentrate on the Gold/Silver Ratio.

@Andre @Phil It would be easy to just pick a number on a hunch, but I'm trying to think a bit deeper than that. The real issue is that people are realizing that paper currency is losing value rapidly, so if we have hyper inflation then gold may be 1,000,000 but it will not be relevant to today's discussion. I'm thinking that what is happening is a response to uncertainty and that once things become more stable, the wheel will stop wherever it is (cont'd)

@Andre @Phil So when will things become more stable - I'm thinking that they will, but that we have quite a crazy year ahead of us. The market has already shown that it can run silver up $40+ and gold up $1,000+ in just one month this year so I'm thinking / hoping that they will go up to about $10k / $250 over the course of this year and then stabilize. I'm also hoping that we get a currency that is pegged to them at that point and trying to imagine how that could happen...

@Bryan @Andre It would be nice to have the dollar pegged to something.I think its impossible to predict when a climb will end and stablize or drop back. It can be affected by so many things (geo political events, financial upheavels, etc. )and commodities can be volitile. I recall watching the value of my gold fall over 40% percent in a couple of years maybe 10 or 15 years ago.I don't have that much and what I do have is just for SHtF insurance.

@Phil @Andre My dad took me to a coin show to buy Krugerands the weekend after Bill Clinton was elected. He had know idea how long it would take, but he was right about what the consequences would ultimately be!

@Bryan @Andre my brother in law gave each of my kids a 1oz gold coin for their HS graduation. It was a generous gift worth about 1700 now over 5k. In only 4 years. For a wedding gift he gave his daughters a 1kg gold bar. At the time it was worth 64000. Now they could sell it and buy a house.
