I started watching the new #StarTrek show #StarFleetAcademy . We are quite proficient in English, but both my wife and me found it really hard to follow the dialogues. Not sure if this is a production issue or if young actors simply don't have the same quality of speech training than they used to, but it really bothers me.Any thoughts on that?

@matthegap these days I watch everything with subtitles or I'd miss most of the dialog. I frequently notice words that were mumbled or almost completely inaudible. The fact that stuff gets released this way might mean the director intended it that way, or that the sound editors are doing a poor job. Hard to know which.

@strypey @hyc Well, I am middle aged but I doubt that's the problem, since I still have no problem with understanding Picard or Cisco.

@matthegap > I still have no problem with understanding Picard, Sisko vor even Wesley CrusherCould your hearing be getting an assist from your memory of previous watches though? Worth considering. Everyone in the early stages of hearing decline goes through a stage of assuming everyone is mumbling ; )@hyc

@strypey @hyc No, I doubt that. Last time I was in the cinema, it wasn't a problem either.
