       looking back at old depictions of oviraptor is really funny to me now, cause like. this is what we used to think they looked like, until eventually, we figured out that these were much farther down the line towards being birds, as opposed to the non-avian dinosaurs, and figured out it would have had very bird-like feathers,

       and lo and behold, you put the feathers on it and, gee, doesn't that just look so much more like an actual animal?? in hindsight it's now just like. how did we ever even think that first idea made sense. it looks like a plucked turkey. and that's because it turns out that depiction was essentially a plucked bird. incredible
