No Authority Book Club recommendation:Back when WOOL came out, I read it like all good sci-fi fans. It was a solid 1984-esque individual vs government story. It's a fairly easy read, and I highly recommend it anymore who hasn't read it. While I'd call it sci-fi, it is not hard science or anything like that. The speculative part is just how someone could build an entire civilization in 144 floors and what happened to the surface. If anything it's engineering-fiction.

But last month I found out there were more books and I'm reading the second one now. It's the pre-history of the first book, answering those two questions: how did they build the silos and what happened to the surface. And let me tell you, it's pretty fucked up.
