at in-n-out and when I said “right on” after the teen cashier gave me the total for my order, she laughed. “did you just say right on?”umm.. yes?“it’s just that I never heard anyone actually say that”is the phrase really outdated?? I’ve always said right on and never thought anything of it being antiquated 🤔

@vitalis I've heard that phrase used maybe once or twice in my life.I think it'd be more associated with the likes of Bill and Ted.It's not so old nobody knows what it means, but old enough that it's seen less use in favor of other phrases.

@Paradox @vitalis hmmm... I thought of Joe Dirt. I can't recall many quotes from Bill & Ted.

@vitalis well, have you heard anyone else say it unironically, in real life, in the past 10 years?

@vitalis Sounds "spot on" to me. I hear right on used all the time, mostly on the television game show deal-or-no-deal. "You're right on the money!"

@vitalis Early 1970's-era American Black English, immediately appropriated by white kids, then experienced a revival in the 1990s among Gen X white people. I still say it too.The middle breakdown section of this song has probably a good half-dozen "Right on!"'s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-kA3UtBj4M
