@chancey Yup. libertarians are the cuckiest of the cucks. Like chickens in a coop bragging about how free they are.

@truthbait @chancey The cucks are all libertarian, at least. The advantage of libertarians: they understand economics. The disadvantage: they try to make this into a religion.Society needs more than an economy.

@amerika @chancey Yeah, but economic liberty is not a libertarian idea. They’re controlled opposition with a psychological disorder that prevents them from ever admitting that they’ve been duped. Like a child in denial.

@truthbait @chancey The conservative idea is limited natural rights plus the idea of paired duty/privilege.We are consequentialists.Libertarians are still stuck on the idea of methods-as-goals, which is the Leftist model as well.

@amerika @truthbait @chancey libertarians ise the word economics carelessly, when in my experience what a lot of them mean in praxaeology. human action is not based on the throw of dice, but on principles and patterns that can be understood to some extent. whether that's hormones and how they interact with mood and higher-order thinking, or strongly heritable factors like iq and conscientiousness and how they lead to the making or breaking of certain institutional structures, or indeed the reality (undeniable) that money, interest, banking, etc. are not specters to be feared but natural outgrowths of finite time, finite resources, and transitive human preferences. the latter is the domain of praxaeology and its daughter disciplines of economics and game theory.when a libertarian tells you it's "basic economics" that all intervention is strictly inefficient, what he's really telling you (even if he doesn't understand it himself) is that the aggregate preferences of the market (which market prices are a window into) are *fact.* they are based on what people actually want. he shouldn't take that to mean they can't be wrong, nor that their minds can't be changed with sufficient propaganda (read: marketing) or even state-sponsored violence (read: advertising).when a libertarian tells you "people are rational," he doesn't mean that people yell I Heil Science, Nigga! at the top.of their lungs and dismiss all claims not provable under reductionist materialism, he just means that any given person at any given time who does something, does it for a reason and because he thinks it will fulfill his purposes. a guy who picks up a book does so because he expects to benefit. maybe there are exceptions like when one is half-asleep, but in the general case, people are rational actors in this broader sense; mises (jewish btw), if i recall, gives the example of a tribal african dancing to bring rain. does his dance actually work? no. is it irrational? no, he believes it works. if he didn't, he wouldn't be dancing.

@chancey rothbard writes about this. if a city has a crime problem,.the cops are going to have different presumptions about the average guy on the street. all you need is after the verdict is announced, cops who damaged an innocent (everything from kept from working, to broken tooth, broken rib, whatever) pay proportionate damages.this creates an upfront disutility of intensive questioning, badgering, etc. in the general case, and suspicion on the part of the individual cop gradually chips away at that that disutility.thus, cops are going to use methods proportionate to their suspicions, and all you have to do is put them on even footing with private citizens.america has an immigration problem.it should not be illegal to shoot an illegal immigrant in the skull groyper. (why was he here?)ice should not formally be subject to different rules and liability structures than the average private citizen.deportations will skyrocket once you make these changes.
