@mer i dont think the first paragraph answers any of the questions, more reaffirms it as a evolutionary trap. @lebronjames75 I think this is the case but not with hedonism but with homosexuality. It always peaks (and is followed by hedonism) when overpopulation happens.But it's not so much a trap as it is a response to the lack of direct physical hardship and progress, which is why it happens mostly in cities. The brain needs needs, so when the basic ones are covered, it comes up with new ones. People go insane when they can't fulfill noticeable needs by their own actions.

@mer @lebronjames75 It's ridiculous how you keep going on about "muh right wing conspiracy" because that's not even near the right wing mindset on the whole thing. Most of us want to detach ourselves and our families completely from the resource drain system. No statist/socialized solutions to it, each family takes care of their own, not everyone else's problems. Old people who were good to their children will be taken care of by those children who love them, old people who were fucking assholes and betrayed their blood will die in a ditch alone. Before Big State, one person working out of 4-5 was more than enough to make it to the end of the month, because all the money they earned went almost exclusively to mantaining their own family. A couple, both working in any reasonable economy, can support themselves, their old parents, and their children. They're already generating this much wealth, the problem is the state takes a huge chunk of that generated wealth and uses it to fund all sorts of things and people that are not directly needed by that worker's family unit. So a lot of countries have 1 in 4 people employed but everyone is poor because a third of the families are fully employed and the other two (some local, some not even citizens) are fully unemployed or doing informal work and the state distributes that money (and keeps a big chunk)We want to free our offspring from debt hell and no future by promising the simple deal of "I'll take care of you now, you'll take care of me later" and pass on our generational wealth to them, not to the state or to other random people. All that I've built and earned will be my son's some day, not a cent of it should go to the state or to other random people, because the work of my life is the right of my heirs, we are not immortal because we're meant to operate generationally, not on suicidal egotism. It's not the right that is against inheritance and wants to tax the fuck out of people to fund social spending.You say "not wanting to pay low qualified work like geriatric or nursing care more" but if the problem is that there are way more old people than working age people, where are you going to generate the wealth to pay more when you're already unable to pay little?Europe recovered from the black death, and it recovered from Justinian's plague before which was even worse. And it did this by each family putting most of their effort and wealth into looking after itself, not by handing it over to the government to distribute and use as they see fit. Remove the state and humanity will survive, no matter the crisis, death will just resume its natural course. But you'll be mad because "the rightoids are hoarding all the wealth to ensure only THEIR children and grandpas survive this life-threatening crisis and they're not spending a huge amount of it and putting their own kin at risk on ensuring all these other random people that are not even nationally related to them survive, the monsters"We can remove the shackles at any moment, and allow each clan to fend for itself, and it will work; it will be only those who backstab eachother or those who have built entirely self-centered lives that will be fucked. You're the ones who are terrified of this, not us, because you're the ones whose social structure is not built around clans. You're the ones who, when everything goes to shit, can't call 15 cousins and their spouses and their children and say "hey let's pool all our resources together, move to the same place, and survive it, bring all your guns", we can.The true right wing solution to societal collapse is retaking the economy into clan-based informal micronations and reassemble nationally once the crisis is over and the successful clans have survived it, and the "demographic pyramid" has fixed itself. This is how it has been done in every humanity-threatening crisis in the last 5000 years, and it has always worked.

@lebronjames75 The actual solution to mass psychological collapse IMO is just decompressing populations. Make people spend time at lower scale settlements if they're going crazy in the big city. Can't beat your meat all day if you have to do other things to survive, and if you're busy on productive activities you're likely to find something else to look forward to other than hedonism.

@mer @lebronjames75 i think i agree with this. the problem is that there are essentially two sides of a "gooner". the one people outside the fetish think of most often is the negative side, which is associated with negative emotions, like avoidance of discomfort, stress relief, or emotional escape. essentially the classic emotion regulation/impulse control issue, but magnified onto a sexual scale. and to be fair, we gooners play into it a lot lmfao. however i believe that it is possible to goon responsibly ("ethical gooning" is a literal meme, not gonna even talk about it). what matters is the motivation behind it, whether sexual regulation "works" properly. as in using gooning to enhance sexual pleasure or as a framework to explore fantasies within.this also opens a whole can of worms: what is "working" sex regulation? is it the strict biological sense that your baby making neurons only light up when you're making babies? is it the physical sense that you can participate in coitus instead of replacing it with "solosex" (masturbation)? is it the social sense that you can adequately judge boundaries and not overstep them like a creep (admittedly, still learning on this one)? is it everything at once? personally i find it amusing that a fetish can elicit deep, philosophical conversations about the interactions of the nature of sexuality, society, and the self.but i think it's undeniable that gooning can turn into something more than a fetish, a sexuality upon itself. and this is the question lebron asks: is this sexuality the result of the evolutionary trap? i would say no. some people are content with being asexual, being gay but not having kids, etc etc. we do things that aren't advantageous to evolution all the time, what matters is whether these things can truly fulfill us or whether we will be left scarred from longing for something else.my 2c is that gooning is the sexuality for the modern age, where you are more than just a cog in the social machine. it's extremely individualistic and prioritizes absolute freedom. and because it is so new, it takes stumbling steps to learn what's acceptable to yourself/others and what's not. the end result is complete sexual liberation and freedom, the dissolution of the self, and an almost religious obsession with placing roots into the ground and finding out what you're truly happy with, away from social stereotypes or pressures. you are essentially breaking yourself down in order to build a new you, and we fetishize the breaking down aspect a lot because taboo = pp hard, but ultimately the goal is to surface back up, refreshed and content with the self. in that sense, gooning is the purest mirror. whatever you put into it is what you get out, and you have a limitless playground to pick and match whatever parts of your sexuality you want to embrace.
