Either he holds illegals in jail for ICE pick up when they're arrested for other crimes can quietly pick them up (as is usual elsewhere), or Trump can declare an insurrection and send in the guard. If Walz decides to keep playing this game, the guard not only arrests the loons protesting, but Walz, the mayor, and members of both administrations. Walz can either back down and let ICE do their job or he can risk prison. Since he's not running again, the smart move for Walz would be to take Trump's offer.The loony foot soldiers in the streets will scream about it, but they'll be basically neutered because there won't be any ICE agents in the streets for them to fuck with. Walz and company stays out of prison, Holman gets his illegals, and Trump avoids risking civil war. For this to work Walz has to be willing to back down and quietly exit, and Trump has to be smart enough, smart and level headed enough to make the offer. That's a lot of "if's", but it could, just maybe, be what the call between Walz and Trump was about.
