If I want to be somewhere at 6:30pm, I have to start planning and preparing to get there the night before. Am I alone in this?#AuDHD #ADHD@autistics

@strypey @autistics *at least* the night before. Could be more, depending on what's involved.

@strypey @autistics I have to have 80 to 90% of anything I do planned 3 days in advance. I cannot change plans at the last minute without a high stress tax on my body and emotions. I have to mentally prepare, do a risk assessment in my head. Think about logistics, clothing, masking, stimulation aids, safety gear.

@fstateaudio @strypey @autistics Doesn't matter how early I start planning; at 6:29 my keys, shoes, phone or other essential item will be missing in action, even if I had them all ten minutes earlier.

@Anne_Delong > my keys, shoes, phone or other essential item will be missing in action, even if I had them all ten minutes earlierI have specific places that these things live, and I'm ruthless with myself about putting them in only those places, and *nowhere else*, not even just quickly. It's the only way I can keep track of them, especially when I'm travelling.@fstateaudio @autistics

@strypey @fstateaudio @autistics Yes, I try to do that, but if literally anything distracts me after I pick them up, my hands will drop items on the nearest surface and I will have no memory of it. Sigh.

@Anne_Delong > if literally anything distracts me after I pick them up, my hands will drop items on the nearest surfaceOof, that's a challenge. I only pick up my wallet to immediately put it in my right-hand pants pocket, where it lives when I'm out and about. I only pick up my keys to immediately hang them around my neck (I have them on a string for that purpose). It took quite a bit of training to get there. My phone and pocket tablet are the weakest link, for sure.@fstateaudio
