I've known people attend and graduate the top universities in this country and they are, without exception, some of the stupidest people I have met. I'll take the average bricklayers brain over that of the typical masters or doctorate graduate. I'm not being even slightly facetious here either. Academia is a massive mess and has been for some time now and we're only just starting to see what rotten fruits that's bearing.

Agreed, same for things like nursing. Even my own degree (zoology) was too classroom focused. Some is necessary but I learned more in fields and forests and rivers in a year than I did in three years sat looking at slides and blackboards. Colleges/universities are cash cows, not schools of excellence. Exclusivity is a good in so many areas of life.

I always found it retarded that math and engineering undergrads have to take "humanities" classes. The excuse was that it was to make someone a "well rounded" educated person. But the reality is that those courses are required because nobody is allowed to graduate without receiving the Marxist brainwashing, not even the ones who are studying to do something actually useful.

I enjoyed the couple of classes I took that were actually relevant for the electrical engineering program I was in, but then I had to do an English composition class when I was already competent enough for anything I could ever possibly find myself doing professionally. I was supposed to write 10 pages on an event that had the greatest impact in my life. It seemed like most of my classmates were single moms who were writing about getting knocked up, and I was too apathetic and depressed to care about anything enough to write, but I still didn't want to lie and bullshit my way through it so I dropped out and played video games and became a drug addict for a while instead.
