In 2026 there is still no sane way to program a GUI. Either you pay for it with blood and tears or your user pays for it with a 2 gigabyte chrome embed to put ascii on the screen Maybe this is a sign from God

What's funny to me is that we used to program the GUI all the time back in the ... 1980s, if memory serves. Don't even ask me which system ... it was 1990-1992. The things were more open-source, although not in the strictest sense.
