@leespringfield1903 Wasn't the retcons and inconsistencies an issue with Western comics ever since their inception (Batman was a gun user early on) - along with a gazillion alternate universes emerging, to the point that they literally had to be culled with Crisis on Infinite Earths?The real problem that goes unaddressed is Western comics being filled with fags, niggers and girlbosses, none of which have been allowed to ruin manga.

@coded_artist @ChristiJunior For the comic books, the artwork gets very disappointing at times.And they use the same incestuous group of writers within the comic book industry.Marvel especially does relaunches like they did recently with the Fantastic Four despite it being the same exact writer.

@ChristiJunior The old retcons and reboots were necessary to deal with anarchronisms and continuity snarls, and the new reader wasn't even aware they had happened. I assumed the Human Torch had originated with the Fantastic Four. Only much later when I read Steranko's history of comics did I learn otherwise.US comics drove themselves into irrelevance by raising their prices too high as part of their pivot to the adult fanboy audience. The latter was Stan Lee's diagnosis, and he was pretty knowledgeable about these things.

@Minty @leespringfield1903 Honestly the resets are a flaw of the comic book industry not wanting to make books. They want to make collectables. Remember when Superman #1 sold for an absurd amount of money? What if our new comic did that? We need to keep selling as individual books so we can have a speculative market open up. Never mind the fact that this means there's no easy starting place and getting into a comic is probably more complex than building a computer from scratch. If you live in Japan, you can just buy a magazine that you know will have the next chapter of the manga you like. Outside of that, there's online options that all offer the weekly, monthly, etc release format. These all get neatly collected in volumes and provided the author hasn't decided to go full Nomura on ordering things, you can just read from start to finish by checking out everything in order. Want a comic? Go to your local comic book shop and buy an individual $5 tiny ass maybe 30 pages at most chapter. It may or may not be the next one in the series depending on what the fags making it decided to do this week. Volume collections of series proper are rare and often take a while to even happen, if they do.
