       @wjmaggos hm, not really - they also own a relay, numerous PDSes, a moderation stack, multiple custom feeds etc. Blacksky is moving in a similar direction.

       @quillmatiq so when I use blacksky like I did, what of the rest of bluesky am I still using? what could they fuck with and make it difficult to rebuild if they wanted to?I hope you understand why someone like myself who looks at social media as important at a civic level, thinks this needs to be more understandable to the average person (AP is similar to websites/email/browsers). why I wish we had a better sense of what a mature ATmosphere looks like ASAP so we can rally/build for democracy.

       @wjmaggos Blacksky has written all their code from scratch (relay, AppView, PDSes, and moderation stack), the only thing they've forked is the client, and I believe they're diverging from it over time, if not writing their own long-term. If you use Blacksky, unless you're on a Bluesky PDS, you're not using Bluesky at all.
