For those with forced air furnaces. Mine runs on natural gas and electric. When the power goes out you dont have heat even though the natural gas is available. A 60 dollar switch and my dads expertise got me a safe bypass switch (took 15 miinutes to install). Without power i switch to emergency and connect an extention cord to a generator and, boom, I have heat when noone else does. Then i lend my portable heaters to my neighbors and get free alcohol in return. I also have a power converter that i can run off my vehicle battery that can power the furnace in place of a generator. A full tank plus 5 gal in my generator will provide many days of comfortable heat if i only run it intermittenly. A full tank of feul in my truck (32 gallons) would provide weeks of heat running it intermittenly.
