Perfect example of why we can't just blanket replicate every Apple Podcasts directory feed URL as authoritative. Podcast Index has the feed url Twit advertises to the world on it's website, but they purposely use a prefixed feed URL for Apple Podcasts. If the publisher/creator wants to measure Apple Podcasts' performance differently than other platforms we need to honor that choice.

@dave that’s 3rd best podcast from Leo’s LLC: after AI and windows podcasts. I’d be interested to see list of tech podcasts that you Dave listen to regularly. Please publish.

@dave thanks, bro!ATP is very Apple focused and all 3 of co-hosts lost touch with reality after also Casey and Siracusa did quit their day jobs to be full time podcasters - Marco being millionaire did it long time ago. I reckon ATP is useless for your day job… but yez it can be interesting myself : I don’t have tech podcasts that I listen to regularly, but I’ll check out that SANS, thanks again

@dave "Security Now (Audio)" exists twice in Apple Podcasts: one with the Podroll prepend (79016499), one without (1493301231).

@daveI think this is a bad take. Apple Podcasts feeds hundreds of other apps - so you would *never* be able to measure Apple Podcasts performance differently than other platforms. It simply doesn't work that way.More likely is that TWiT hasn't bothered to correctly update its website with the Podroll prefix.

@james @dave I'm every day more convinced each feed should specify its own canonical feed url in the xml.

@james Daniel said they have two feeds in AP. One with and one without. 🤦‍♂️

@dave @james I'm guessing the significantly lower number Apple Podcasts ID is the accurate one, and the second one (added in January 2020) was maybe submitted by their hosting provider, or someone else who didn't know what they were doing.
