If you aren't saying "Abolish Ice" it makes it seem like maybe they aren't just lying all the time about the people they are killing. What other response is possible? It's supposed to be "immigration enforcement" but they just kill people and lie about why they did it. That can't be "retrained."You already know body-cameras won't do anything. When we do have video they just ignore it and say our eyes are the liars not their murderous tongues. Abolish Ice Now. Abolish it Yesterday.

Go back in time, and never make up a thing called "ICE" in the first place. We have a way to do "immigration enforcement" its a weird new idea and it's bad.

There are people, like me, who said ICE was a bad idea from the start. Who said "abolish ICE" ten years ago because we looked at what it was, how it was designed and we KNEW this is where is was going. And we were called unreasonable, crazy. "The American people have a lot of respect for law enforcement your words won't poll well."Part of the source of that respect is how leaders treat them as if they are untouchable. Who has taught "the American people" this? It's ya'll.

@futurebird They took advantage of the rampant fear after 9/11. I knew they would, and then they did and contacting my senators and Representative apparently was not enough to stop it.

@futurebirdDon't take it wrong. But especially US law enforcement has been rapidly militarizing in the past 2 decades. That's not a good thing. And special respect for law enforcement is not a good thing either.

@futurebird At a certain point, you have to conclude that the political class knew what ICE was when they made it, or are comprised of the most pure, innocent naifs in the whole of Christendom. That Democrats are fools who thought "don't worry we'll always be in control of this extrajudicial paramilitary force with its own court system" is irrelevant. They obviously think they can use ICE in the future. What GOP accelerations have Dems pulled back on rather than capitalize on, but quietly?

@futurebird “Have a lot of respect for police”? The US has literally thousands of different police forces. You even have one for parks. Parks! Policing is part of the US like sweat from your pores. In Australia we only have about 8 forces nationwide. We hate all of them. They are just as ineffective and violent as yours. We can focus our displeasure at their incompetence far easier as it is easy to target. This multitude of cops makes it impossible to break free unless some of them help. Good luck USA, you’ve had a good innings.

@futurebirdActually law enforcement officers being "untouchable" is a feature of the system but especially the US system that years everything as a money damage. So besides the thing that LEO are part of the criminal justice system (which is true everywhere) which tends to make a bit immune in practice, in the USA the politicians are sorely tempted to give them legally immunity and special status to avoid paying huge damages to the victims when their LEO fuck up.
