so i've started to notice this more and more and its perplexing me:why do the japanese mix in so much english with their media? as I started to watch more anime I noticed it wasn't limited to just nintendo games. there's a LARGE chunk of english writing in anime and videogames

@TeaTootler Yeah, you would think they would've preferred to continue to use their own native vocabulary as much as possible. But I think we're seeing a similar phenomenon to how English absorbed a large body of French loanwords during the rule of the Plantagenet dynasty over England.

@greenshoots some anime might be doing it to draw a western audience but even the old stuff from the 80s and 90s has what i would call a lot
