@salt people are wrenching you for this but you're right, the sort of culture around the word neurodivergent has taken hold as term of infantilization . saying that you have a mental illness implies that one fights it instead of being a victim of it whereas being neurodivergent or "neurospicy" utterly defines you and your character . usage of the term has not really helped people with disabilities at all anyway given the extreme cultural backsliding against anyone who is not "normal" and has only been socially divisive handwringing . the term "retard" has essentially replaced "stupid" and people actually say "schizo" now

@zuki @salt All these words denoting deviations only exist relative to a dominant culture which is a population able to wield power in its context. In our context where power is distributed by exploitation any deviation that doesnt internally reproduce exploitation ought to be celebrated whereas any superficial folding-in of the form of a deviant into a quarantined niche provided by a dominant culture is literally the texbook form of recuperation and erasure. Where slurs are reclaimed and ways of life are crystallized and formalized the path is being laid for recuperation. The deliberate point isn't the semiotic form assigned from above, it's how the effective dynamics and maintained separation from the dominant population can contribute to actualization. 'Neurodivergent' from what I understand is an example of a label coined internally and accepted into the hiring branch of the heirarchy; 'queer and gay' are examples of terms first laid vertically and then accepted but then used to reproduce exploitation. Weird on the other hand seems only to have become more convoluted in its functional etymology and I appreciate that about it.
