@zeldman you do wonder if the people that voted for this understand, or even care, about the level of pain inflicted in their name.

I feel like this article is very misleading. It has someone from 2008, way before the massive influx around ~2015 and very different from that later group of economic migrants. The Psychobabble has a really good look at the situation from people who actually live in Norway and Sweden: https://hannahspier.substack.com/p/scamdinavia-d33The article makes a lot of appeals to emotion (it's important and relevant to note it was written by a woman). A lot of the policies the article says Sweden is implementing seem more than reasonable. The woman at the start of the article is significantly different than later economic migrants, and her situation should be separate if she's had children who've truly assimilated into the culture. But then that begs the question, if she's been there since 2008, why hasn't she applied for citizenship? Same for the family at the end of the article. They are different than the new influx of migrants, and the article tries to group them all together. They're not though. What's happening to the much older migrants is tragic, but what's happening to the newer batch is practical. I'm curious if you talked to these people, if they'd separate themselves entirely from the new migrants. Once again ... why did they not apply for citizenship before the 2015 influx?

@djsumdog @zeldmanthe major current problem in sweden is that the policies strike at well-behaved labor immigrants but don't touch paperless or criminal ones at allour government is just aging privileged boomers that try to haphazardly solve things using bureaucracy, but they cannot escape the swedish mindset where laws and organizations are made for people who are exceedingly well behaved
